Queen Palms

Queen Palms grow very fast and are the most popular large palm use in Souther California landscape. They are frequently misplaced in the landscape (too close to overhanging roofs, etc.) as they quickly grow to 30 to 40 ft in height. They are also frequently over pruned.
Please allow for a full head of fronds for the long term good health of the plant. They are also frequently under fertilized resulting in the “Southern California Golden Queen palm.” Give them frequent applications of a balanced palm fertilizer. Queen palms are frequently diagnosed with pink rot as well as scale insects.
Queen palms can also be infected with Thielaviopsis stem or trunk rot.
Be careful to minimize physical damage to the trunks of the palms – most importantly DO NOT ALLOW TREE TRIMMERS TO USE CLIMBING SPIKES.
